Quad-City Wedding Photography

So Friday, one of my closest friends Shannon Colgan (who sometimes assists and 2nd shoots for me) tells me she’s getting a puppy, and she’s super stoked. She shows me pictures, and oh yeah, he’s super cute! So Saturday, this lovely couple, Jenny & Chris get married, which is awesome all by itself, but as fate would have it we stop at Vandeveer to take some portraits in between the wedding, and who do I see? Shannon, her boyfriend Todd and their ADORABLE puppy, Ferdinand! So we had to grab him for a few quick shots.

What do you get when your groom’s a photographer? The picture below! He suggested this one after seeing how stunning his lovely wife looked during another pose.

Thought I’d share this real quick since it sounded like such a great idea.  QC Weddings is holding a Wedding garage sale.  If you’ve recently gotten married and have a ton of wedding decorations/centerpieces/ect.. you don’t want or if you’re getting married and don’t want to spend a ton on these things.  Check out QCweddings.com for more details or view this flyer.

My sister’s wedding

March 21, 2011

Yep, that’s my brother-in-law doing the worm to Vanilla Ice!

I’ve been meening to post these for awhile. My little sister was married back in October, and we are so happy for her and her new husband Brent! The whole night was a blast, although it was a little weird not being the photographer all night. Obviously I still couldn’t put the camera down. They did have my good friend Teresa Ousely of Wiz of Oz Photography to be their photographer. I also had my other good friend Shannon Colgan of  Shaze Impressions running a photobooth for Heather’s reception.

Here are a few that I took, the photobooth shots at the end were taken by Shannon Colgan and processed by me. Had to have one of all the photographer’s, it’s towards the end from the photobooth of me, Teresa, Shannon and Tassy.

Get ready to drool!

March 1, 2011

A few months ago I did a shoot for Bridges Catering showcasing some of their delicious offerings for a holiday party at the River Center in Davenport.  Here were a few of the highlights.

Kyrstin and Mike were married way back in December at the Unitarian Church in Davenport. They held their reception at the beautiful Abby Station in Rock Island.

Kyrstin and Mike both come from very close families and you could really feel the warmth and close family ties throughout their wedding day. They also all knew how to have a good time! Kyrstin’s sisters did one of the most entertaining toasts I’ve ever seen which included a dance routine, and her parents did a beautiful song together for them.

Despite the snow and bitter cold, Kyrstin and Mike were such good sports we even managed to take a few pictures outside.

Here are a few of my favorite images from this adorable couples wedding day!

Robin & Ben’s Wedding

December 20, 2010

Happy Holidays everyone! Hope your all enjoying some time with your loved ones! We have one family down and 2 more to go, can’t wait for next weekend. I’m so excited for next weekend,  it’s kind of sad, Cory has to stop me from telling the kids we’re opening presents early!

This is another long over due post, this one’s from early November.  My good friend Kristin has known Robin forever and told me how wonderful she is, and she definitly wasn’t lying.

I first met Robin and Ben at their engagement session this April, right before Cory & I left town for Las Vegas (Still need to post those pictures!). We had a great time together, and they recommended some great places to go in Vegas (including the best sushi I’ve ever had, mmmm)! It turns out that’s their favorite place and it’s actually where Ben proposed!

Unfortunately, a few months later Ben was hit by a car on his motorcycle. Ben went into a coma and sustained several injuries, things didn’t look good. Robin spent weeks with him in the ICU praying for a miracle. I can’t even begin to imagine the heartache she and their family went through. Thankfully they got their miracle and Ben pulled through!

Rather than wait, they were married in the hospital in front of family.

I’ve put off posting this for a while because I was really touched by their story, and I’m not a writer. I read Robin’s care log (I think she could be a writer) on facebook and her updates during the whole ordeal, and I cried and prayed, and I feel like I gained a new perspective and appreciation for life.

I feel blessed to have been a part of the larger ceremony and reception they held later for friends and family.

Thank you Robin & Ben, I’m so happy for you both!

Robin made a gorgeous bride!

Ben was stylin’, I loved the hat!

“First look” at the Old Capitol Building in Iowa City

Lovely ladies!

And goofy guys

Ben’s son is such a little cutie!

Not sure, but I think they’re Hawk fans! Kinnick Stadium was amazing!

I know I’ve been behind on blogging again, but my top priority is making sure my clients get their pictures ahead of schedule, and I’ve been right on top of that.  It’s been a busy October here. First we had Megan & Jeff’s wedding up in Clinton, it was a gorgeous wedding at The Prince of Peace Catholic Parish, with a reception at the Wild Rose Casino.  These two were really fun & the whole wedding party was a blast!

Robot cuff links, awesomeness!

Loved the lace details in Megan’s gown, very unique.

I think we had about 50 shots like the one above of Megan’s brother, someone’s not afraid of the camera!

This is probably the only group “hands” shot I’ve ever seen. 🙂

I have to say this was the best wedding toast I have ever seen. The two best men broke off into a hilarious song about how Jeff spoils Megan.
MI Studios did the video for the wedding & I hope I get to see it, this is one of those moments that probably translates better on video!
