Robin & Ben

April 18, 2010

I love fun couples! I think we had a great time hanging out & I’m really pumped for there wedding in September. Robin writes some of the most entertaining e-mails.
What a gorgeous day for a photoshoot too, if we can just keep the weather just like this I’ll be one happy photographer.

Robin & I really wanted some purple flowers, so we met up at Lindsay Park in Davenport.

Then we headed over to Illinois for the rest of these.

I love how peaceful Robin looks in this next one.ย  Gorgeous!

Does anyone remember pop-up videos? Good times. If there was a pop-up for this next image it would say something like “Photographer almost stepped on a headless dead fish while shooting this image.” Not kidding, I’m not quite sure how it got there. What’s funny is that Cory yelled out “Don’t step on the dead fish” while I was shooting & I continued because I just thought he was trying to make Robin & Ben laugh. ๐Ÿ™‚

For this next series of images, I just told Robin & Ben to go do something cute. I’m pretty sure I heard one of them say “I don’t know how to be cute.”

WRONG, way too cute! ๐Ÿ™‚

This next one is one of my favorite images EVER.

Caitlin – Senior shoot

April 11, 2010

I’m sooo happy for spring, I get pretty antsy during the winter waiting to start shooting again! Today was absolutely gorgeous, blue sky and some lovely golden sunlight.

I got to meet up with Caitlin and her mom for her senior pictures today. Caitlin gets some bonus points today because she wasn’t feeling well & she still put up with us. On top of that I found out she was an “America’s next top model” fan too and I put her through the worst Tyra Banks impression that’s ever been done. ๐Ÿ™‚ The poor girl still managed to look gorgeous!

Here’s a quick preview.

April is Autism Awareness month. Autism has struck us pretty close to home, our son Anakin was diagnosed with it when he was two. It’s been a struggle and a blessing. He’s 8 and non-verbal, but he’s learning new signs all the time. He’s starting to pick them up faster and it’s so awesome to see the progress he makes everyday. He’s such a little sweetheart & his laughter is almost magical.

If you’ve never met any one with Autism, odds are that you will soon, about 1 in 150 American children are diagnosed with it every year.

“Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and affects a personโ€™s ability to communicate and interact with others. Autism is defined by a certain set of behaviors and is a “spectrum disorder” that affects individuals differently and to varying degrees. There is no known single cause for autism, but increased awareness and funding can help families today.” (From the Autism Society of America Website)

“Here are some signs to look for in the children in your life:

  • Lack of or delay in spoken language Repetitive use of language and/or motor mannerisms
  • (e.g., hand-flapping, twirling objects)
  • Little or no eye contact
  • Lack of interest in peer relationships
  • Lack of spontaneous or make-believe play
  • Persistent fixation on parts of objects “
