I think I’ve been worried  waiting for this Saturday’s wedding, everyone was predicting rain all week.  Saturday the storm clouds were pretty ominous, but the rain cleared up and Avory & Corey had a fabulous ceremony out at the Wapsi.

You might remember Avory & Corey from their E-session a few months ago.  We did something called light painting (like in the picture above), and they wanted to do it again for the wedding day.  I’m not sure it’s something that I’ll be doing often, because of the logistics, but it was a lot of fun, and the results are pretty cool!

We did try out some new off-camera lighting techniques throughout the evening and I think that is something we will be doing a lot more of.

All in all it was a great wedding, and such a fun group, congrats you two!

I could not believe all the work that went into creating all of the little handmade details. Corey & Avory made most, if not all of the glass centerpieces and decorations. Corey made this lovely cake topper. Avory’s mom also put together all of the floral arrangements. It was all so beautiful!

Carrie and Travis Teaser

September 14, 2009

I’m feeling a bit under the weather, so this one is going to be short & sweet, but look out for a longer post about Carrie & Travis’s gorgeous wedding.

They had some of the most amazing table centerpieces I’ve ever seen.

Carrie surprised Travis with this cute Cubs groom cake.

Terra & Craig’s Wedding

August 8, 2009

Terra is one of my favorite Sales reps at the Times, because she’s so much fun! I was so excited to get the chance to shoot her wedding.  We got so lucky to, I was worried all week we’d have rain, but it turned out to be a gorgeous day.   They had their ceremony at the Quad-Cities Botanical Garden in Moline.

I love the look in his eyes when Craig first lays eyes on Terra! Of course she looked so gorgeous, who could blame him.

They had a sand ceremony during the ceremony with their children, it was so beautiful!

What a cutie!

Then it was off to Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley.

Doesn’t she look just like a princess!

Some pretty details…

Yummy!

They have some of the cutest kiddos! Cory caught these next few of the kids.

I meant to post this awhile ago, but I’ve been behind (starting to notice a theme with these posts?).  A few months ago I had the chance to 2nd shoot a wedding for the awesome photographer,  Sarah McGee. She is so much fun to work with! The wedding was way back in February, the ceremony was held at the Trinity Cathedral and the reception was at The Outing Club, both in davenport. You can check out Sarah’s gorgeous pictures from the day here. What a beautiful wedding. These were a few of my favorites.

I love when there is this kind of gorgeous detailing on the dress.

Sarah set up this shot, I just managed to grab it from a different angle. Trinity Cathedral is such a beautiful church!

I used an extra Pocket Wizard to borrow Sarah’s lighting set up for this, I’m not too happy with the background, but I love the movement in the dress.

Wedding books

March 29, 2009

I’m so excited, I finally got my sample wedding book in, and it is fabulous!  These are beautifully hand made and very well put together. The pages are printed on gorgeous high-quality photographic paper. The color reproduction on the pages is very accurate. It’s cover is Genuine Italian leather & it feels wonderful. Oh & they come with these cute stylish fabric bags. I think I’m in love!

They come in 7 fun colors

Voluptuous Black
Smoldering Brown
Sultry Blue
Forbidden Green
Redlight Red
Virgin white
Passion Pink

They finally released Passion Pink this year, so I had to pick up one, I think it matches my logo perfectly.

Check out the thick pages, love it!

Wedding with Sarah McGee

December 22, 2008

Ok, this is long overdue. I had been meaning to post about this since September, but I’m just now catching up a bit. I finally got my site updated, and I have a few more changes in store for it, now it’s time to catch up on some posting.
A few months ago I got the chance to 2nd shoot a wedding for the Fabulous Sarah McGee. I’m a big fan of her wedding work, so it was great to see her in action. You can read Sarah’s Post about the wedding here. Plus it was the last wedding at the Abbey hotel in Bettendorf. That was kind of a big deal to me, it was one of the places I really wanted to shoot at, and I wouldn’t have gotten a chance otherwise. Anyways a really great day, and Vanessa & Jeff were a fabulous couple. Thanks again Sarah for the chance to work with you.

Stephanie & Craig – part 2

November 23, 2008

I had to post a few more from Stephanie & Craig’s wedding.

Textured

I really love the time before the ceremony, there’s a lot of anticipation going on and it can make for some beautiful documentary style images.

Some of my favorite images from Cory:

They had a gorgeous reception

We journeyed out to Galesburg for Stephanie & Craig’s wedding last weekend. They incorporated some gorgeous fall colors in their wedding too. Love it, fall’s my favorite season. Cory & I got there at bit early and managed to find a few cool looking alleyways to shoot in. I love the top image, it just kind of shows how comfortable & happy these two are together.

I loved this staircase at the church, and it doesn’t hurt that Stephanie’s an absolutely gorgeous bride.

Stephanie sent me an inspirational blog (weddingparty.com, check it out, they have some great images and good wedding planning ideas) before the wedding, they had some great images of a couple in the middle of the road for an engagement session, so we tried something similar. I was just happy to have a wedding party willing to let me risk their lives for pictures. Mua ha ha >:)

The DJ had some really excellent lighting going on, which worked really nicely with the gorgeous decorations they had set up for the reception. We had to try a few ambient light images.

I’m going to stop for now with this image Cory took, he’s got an eye for good romantic backlighting.

Ron & Ralisa – Preview

October 26, 2008

I’ve been a bit behind on blog posting, this month has been crazy busy. Ron & Ralisa had a beautiful fall themed wedding at the Milan Community center. It was a beautiful wedding, and I absolutely loved the fall colors. These are a few of my favorites so far.

Ralisa was a gorgeous bride.

I really loved the white tux.

Wedding

Shannon took this shot through the front windows. I think Ralisa looks like a 40’s style movie star in this.

Ron’s brother gave one of the most emotional toasts I’ve ever heard.

Cory took this during the ceremony

I loved the cool lighting in this shot Cory took.
