Wedding FAQs

March 20, 2009

I LOVE weddings! I really do, the whole day is filled with emotion & I absolutely enjoy capturing it all!
My goal for each wedding is to find something unique and capture the story of the day with a fresh perspective.

Although I do set aside time for formal portraits, I will NOT stop & pose you during the major events of your day. I prefer to capture these events as they happen in a natural organic way. If you’re looking for pictures of the two of you looking at the camera with a cheesy grin while you’re dancing/cutting the cake/ect.. you’ll want to move on to the next photographer’s website.

I hope the list below will help answer some of the most frequent questions I have heard, if you still have more questions or would like to book your wedding, please get in contact with me at tiffanie@tiffanieimages.com or use the contact form here.

We want to book you for our wedding, what do we do next?

To book your wedding, you can contact me via the contact form, or e-mail me at Tiffanie@Tiffanieimages.com. I will get in touch with you and we can set up a get-together to go over your wedding plans. A $300 retainer and a signed contract is required to reserve your wedding date. The retainer does count towards the total package price. Back to top

Who will photograph my wedding?

I will, plain & simple. If you book you’re wedding with me it will be the only wedding I book for the day, and I will be the one working with you from start to finish. Some photographers have you meet with a sales associate and then send someone else to shoot your wedding. That’s not how I do it, what you see is what you get. I’m also available for e-mails or phone calls throughout the planning stages to make sure you get great photos. I will even try to meet with you at your ceremony site to go over the flow of the day.Back to top

Do you work with an assistant?

I usually will bring another photographer with and occasionally two. I feel that another photographer will enhance your wedding day coverage. A second photographer allows us to be in two places at once, and to get a different view on your wedding day. This also allows me to spend time catching those beautiful candids with the bride & bridesmaids while my 2nd photographer can work with the groomsmen. I usually will work with the same two photographers. My husband Cory, and my close friend Shannon Colgan, although I have a few other photographer friends I can call on in. I have complete trust in Shannon and Cory and they both have taken some amazing photographs with own unique vision. They add a unique flavor to your image collection. Back to top

Do you take formal group portraits during the wedding?

Although I prefer to take more candid, documentary style photos, I understand that you or your parents might want group portraits of the family. Formal portraits can be tedious, to make them go faster and smoother, appoint someone who is familiar with both sides of the family to help gather everyone together. It might help to give them a list of groupings that are most important to you. If you have large (10 or more) group portraits in mind, or something specific that is important to you, please let me know so we can make arrangements. To make your day go smoother, you might try to break with tradition and take your formal portraits before the ceremony, so that you can make your way to the reception right away. I also recommend appointing someone in your family to help me locate family members to make the formals go even smoother. Back to top

What should we expect?

My style is what I would call “Artistic Documentary Style,” I try to capture everything as it happens, without constantly asking you and your wedding party to pose or redo things. I won’t be telling you all day long where to stand and how to cut your cake. I just want you and your loved ones to enjoy your day. You might even forget I’m there. I don’t think purist documentary style is only way to capture you’re wedding. Most people want fun portraits as well and I like to set aside some time during your wedding day to have a mini portrait session infused with a bit of fashion influence. We might try to set up a few other locations before or after you’re ceremony to get some of those fun images and don’t be surprised if you see me lying on the ground or standing on chairs, or otherwise looking like a goof, I’ll try just about anything to get great images. Do you shoot film or digital?

I shoot all digital Nikon cameras. I have shot film for many years, I started out with a film SLR in high school and I loved it. I loved the darkroom, I loved the look of black & white film, but I was always limited by the number of shots and the cost of film. Digital cameras have come along way and the image quality on the digital SLR’s is now just as good as film and in some cases much better. Now with digital I feel like I have more control over my images, I love artistically editing my photos just as much as actually taking the photographs. This is why my work doesn’t just end when I leave the reception, afterwords I can spend from 30-60 hours painstakingly editing every image into works of art. Back to top

Do you bring backup equipment in case of a malfunction?

YES! I bring backups of everything, lenses, camera’s and flash units. Even if you don’t book your wedding with me, please make sure you ask this question of your wedding photographer. Equipment malfunctions or can be easily damaged, and there isn’t an easy way to re-create you’re wedding if something does go wrong. Back to top

Do you back up your files?

YES! It’s not a question of if a hard drive will crash, it’s when. After a wedding I download my cards to my computer, after that I back them up on an external hard drive. I do not delete my memory cards until I have at least two copies of the files saved. Once all the editing is done they are also backed up to disc. Back to top

Will my images be available online?

Yes, all of my wedding and portrait packages include a 90-day online gallery that you can share with friends and family across the country. I also include gallery cards for all of my wedding packages, these are cute little cards with an image from your E-session on one side and log-in information on the other side so all of your friends and family can view your wedding pictures.
