2009 Faves

January 6, 2010

It’s the beginning of a new year, so I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite pictures from 2009.

It’s hard to pick my most favorite, but the one at the top of this post certainly makes me smile! :)

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season & I hope you all have a 2010 that’s jam packed with awesomey-goodness!

2nd shooting

December 9, 2009

The title kind of sounds like some kind of grassy knoll reference, but it’s a term we use for the assistant photographer.

These are a couple shots from a few of this season’s weddings I 2nd shot with my friend Teresa Ousely from Wiz of Oz photograhpy.  She’s one of my favorite local photographer’s and she’s so much fun to work for!

The lovely & talented Teresa herself, hard at work!

Jackie & John’s Wedding

October 25, 2009

I’m a few weeks behind on posting this one. I can’t believe what trooper’s these guys were, it was actually snowing earlier that day, and they stood outside freezing for pictures.

They did great, you wouldn’t even know they’re shivering in the shot above.   They both love snow anyways, so it was a perfect sign for their amazing wedding!

I think Jackie looks like an angel in this picture.

I think this is the coolest “getaway” car I’ve ever seen!

We made the boys  get in a quick football game!

They came up with this one, I love it!

I think I’ve been worried  waiting for this Saturday’s wedding, everyone was predicting rain all week.  Saturday the storm clouds were pretty ominous, but the rain cleared up and Avory & Corey had a fabulous ceremony out at the Wapsi.

You might remember Avory & Corey from their E-session a few months ago.  We did something called light painting (like in the picture above), and they wanted to do it again for the wedding day.  I’m not sure it’s something that I’ll be doing often, because of the logistics, but it was a lot of fun, and the results are pretty cool!

We did try out some new off-camera lighting techniques throughout the evening and I think that is something we will be doing a lot more of.

All in all it was a great wedding, and such a fun group, congrats you two!

I could not believe all the work that went into creating all of the little handmade details. Corey & Avory made most, if not all of the glass centerpieces and decorations. Corey made this lovely cake topper. Avory’s mom also put together all of the floral arrangements. It was all so beautiful!

Carrie and Travis Teaser

September 14, 2009

I’m feeling a bit under the weather, so this one is going to be short & sweet, but look out for a longer post about Carrie & Travis’s gorgeous wedding.

They had some of the most amazing table centerpieces I’ve ever seen.

Carrie surprised Travis with this cute Cubs groom cake.

Terra & Craig’s Wedding

August 8, 2009

Terra is one of my favorite Sales reps at the Times, because she’s so much fun! I was so excited to get the chance to shoot her wedding.  We got so lucky to, I was worried all week we’d have rain, but it turned out to be a gorgeous day.   They had their ceremony at the Quad-Cities Botanical Garden in Moline.

I love the look in his eyes when Craig first lays eyes on Terra! Of course she looked so gorgeous, who could blame him.

They had a sand ceremony during the ceremony with their children, it was so beautiful!

What a cutie!

Then it was off to Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley.

Doesn’t she look just like a princess!

Some pretty details…

Yummy!

They have some of the cutest kiddos! Cory caught these next few of the kids.

Back in March I had the pleasure of assisting the wonderful Teresa Ousely of Wiz of Oz Photography with a beautiful wedding at Tanglewood Hills in Bettendorf.
We had a blast, Teresa is so much fun to work with, I’ll be helping her out with a few more weddings this summer.  The adorable little flower girl above was probably our biggest challenge of the day.  So adorable & so camera shy. Teresa and I both wanted some pictures of the little cutie, but she made a game of hiding from us, but we managed to get a few cute pictures of her. The one above was my favorite.

One of the things I love about shooting with other photographers is that I can try out things that I’d like to do at my weddings, without the pressure to “get the shot.”  For this one I wanted to play with some off camera lighting during the reception, and I loved the results, so I’m going to be doing a lot more of it.

I’ve picked up quite a few lighting tricks this winter that I’m dying to try out, so look forward to some off the wall images!

We had so much fun playing “hide & seek” with these two. :)

The brides daughter was so cute!

I meant to post this awhile ago, but I’ve been behind (starting to notice a theme with these posts?).  A few months ago I had the chance to 2nd shoot a wedding for the awesome photographer,  Sarah McGee. She is so much fun to work with! The wedding was way back in February, the ceremony was held at the Trinity Cathedral and the reception was at The Outing Club, both in davenport. You can check out Sarah’s gorgeous pictures from the day here. What a beautiful wedding. These were a few of my favorites.

I love when there is this kind of gorgeous detailing on the dress.

Sarah set up this shot, I just managed to grab it from a different angle. Trinity Cathedral is such a beautiful church!

I used an extra Pocket Wizard to borrow Sarah’s lighting set up for this, I’m not too happy with the background, but I love the movement in the dress.

Wedding books

March 29, 2009

I’m so excited, I finally got my sample wedding book in, and it is fabulous!  These are beautifully hand made and very well put together. The pages are printed on gorgeous high-quality photographic paper. The color reproduction on the pages is very accurate. It’s cover is Genuine Italian leather & it feels wonderful. Oh & they come with these cute stylish fabric bags. I think I’m in love!

They come in 7 fun colors

Voluptuous Black
Smoldering Brown
Sultry Blue
Forbidden Green
Redlight Red
Virgin white
Passion Pink

They finally released Passion Pink this year, so I had to pick up one, I think it matches my logo perfectly.

Check out the thick pages, love it!
